Laurice Campbell Buckton
| Laurice Campbell Buckton, Violist, a graduate of Trinity College of Music, London, studied viola with Elizabeth Turnbull and Nicholas Roth and violin with Vera Kantrovich. Whilst at Trinity, she won the Lillian Fuchs prize for viola. After graduation, Laurice played with many of the London orchestras including London Mozart Players, BBC Concert Orchestra, Hanover Band and The English Concert. |

As orchestral musician, she has made several recordings with Hanover Band and English Concert; Mozart Symphonies with English Concert on the Deutsche Gramaphone label, Beethoven and Schumann Symphonies with the Hanover Band on the BMG and Hyperion labels. Touring has been a major part of orchestral playing, visiting many countries of the world including Japan France, Germany, Spain, United States, and Australia, performing in the major concert halls.
Chamber music and solo appearances have include Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante with the Wren Orchestra of London in the Albert Hall and String Chamber performances in the halls of the South Bank and the Barbican, London.
Since moving to the United States, Laurice has been a dedicated chamber musician and teacher. For eight years, she was the violist of the Boca String Quartet. Laurice was principal viola of the Atlantic Classical Orchestra for seven years, as well as playing in many of the other Florida orchestras, including Naples Philharmonic, Palm Beach Pops, Palm Beach Opera, Florda Philharmonic and Florida Sunshine Pops
Laurice is currently Artist in Residence at Bak Middle School of the Arts and Conductor of the Strings of the Youth Orchestra of Palm Beach County, as well as having a thriving private violin and viola studio, chamber music coaching and solo and chamber recitals.
