Shannon Wood is an alumni of the New World Symphony and is the former Principal Timpanist of the Florida Philharmonic Orchestra.  Originally from Ann Arbor Michigan, Shannon holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Percussion Performance from the University of Michigan and Temple University.  As an orchestral and chamber musician he has toured extensively throughout Europe, New Zealand, South America and the United States and has performed with the Philadelphia Orchestra and Atlanta Symphony Orchestra as well as MTV Music Video Awards.  He is currently on the faculty of the University of Miami and has served on the faculty of the Interlochen Arts Centre.  His summer engagements have included the Aims, Aspen, Colorado, Spoleto and Tanglewood Music Festivals.
